My obituary

Today we gathered here to mourn

The man who always looked ahead

He sang quite well he could perform

But chose a teaching job instead

He’ll be remembered for his care,

For his constructive criticism,

His reprimands (at times unfair)

And for his ever-lasting grin

He lived for almost ten decades

Despite unfriendly market trends

Because he used to delegate

And switch off work at the weekends

Although he died, his school lives on

With every classroom brightly lit

With posters his colleagues have drawn

And books he managed to complete.
